On Teaching Tango at CCSF
Chelsea Eng founded/created the CCSF Argentine Tango Program in 2000. For the past 20+ years she has loved teaching Argentine Tango in the Dance Department to thousands of CCSF students. “Diversity, equity and inclusion” have, from the outset, been integral to her pedagogical approach to sharing the art and culture of this wondrous partner dance. Her annual group choreographic work for the CCSF Dance Concert features gender-neutral partnering (anyone of any gender may lead anyone of any gender), as well as costuming and themes that buck heteronormative constraints and tango cliches.
Founded/created (in 2000) & headed by Chelsea Eng,
The Argentine Tango Program at City College of San Francisco
invites students to experience the joy and depth of Argentine Tango as a living art form. To that end, the Program offers progressive course levels, prácticas, milongas and performance opportunities. It aims to deliver high quality instruction in a safe, supportive environment.
